Seattle police said at least one person walking south on 23rd Avenue South came around the corner of South Jackson, rounding an Auto Zone and shot into the nearby parking lot of a strip mall, injuring four people — three men and a 2-year-old girl — Sunday afternoon in the Central District.

Before police and medics arrived, the victims had already left for the hospital in personal vehicles, said Detective Valerie Carson said, a Seattle Police Department spokesperson.

At first, police were saying they believed there was one suspect. Later, Carson wrote in a blotter post that there were multiple suspects.

"I don't have any word on the condition of the adults, but the 2-year-old is in critical condition at this time," Carson said.

Harborview Medical Center spokesperson Susan Gregg said in an email that the two men were in satisfactory condition and confirmed the 2-year-old was hospitalized and in critical condition.

The shooting occurred after 3 p.m., as police said they started receiving phone calls at 3:22 p.m.

The Seattle Police Department initially tweeted there were four victims. At the scene Carson said three had been shot, but later amended the number of victims back to four in a blotter post. No information was given about the suspects.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
