Report: In April these cars, trucks sold the fastest in Seattle

Cars and trucks are selling faster than they have all year in Seattle, according to a new report.

In March, cars were sitting on lots much less than they were in February, according to automotive research firm iSeeCars.com. That trend continued in April, but nationally the month-to-month numbers remained consistent. The slight decline could be attributed to a supply shortage.

“The microchip shortage is showing up as a clear constriction to new car supply, as we've seen a 16.6% drop in new car inventory over just the past four weeks from April to May," iSeeCars executive analyst Karl Brauer. “The significant decrease in inventory suggests demand continues to outpace supply, and these hot sellers will likely be even more difficult to find in the coming months.”

Over February and March, the fastest-selling cars tended to be luxury brands and mid-size SUVs. While those dominated the national lists, bigger SUVs and trucks made it to the top of the rankings in Seattle.

It's no coincidence that Toyota had some at the the top. The brand has halted buying incentives in most of the country and the demand has skyrocketed due to lowered supply, Brauer said.

Another continued trend was the peppering of hybrid and electric vehicles on the national list. The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid are among the cars with the highest, and Brauer said Toyota's having a hard time keeping up.

Nationally, the Chevrolet Corvette took the top spot, just as it did in January, February and March.

The new mid-engine Corvette is the fastest-selling new car for the third consecutive month,” Brauer said. “The Corvette C8 has been in short supply since its 2020 debut due to overwhelming demand and multiple production setbacks, forcing General Motors to stop taking orders for the 2021 model.”
