As outdoor seating remains a popular way of dining, Pike Place Market is expanding on an effort it began last summer by installing picnic tables with umbrellas down Pike Street and along Pike Place. Additional seating on the MarketFront Deck is also expected to be installed soon.

Diners can pick up food from any of the numerous Market restaurants and dine under the iconic clock and sign, on the old cobblestone street or on the MarketFront deck which offers unobstructed views of Puget Sound.

The expanded outdoor seating will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Parking can be found in the Public Market parking garages which provide direct access to the Market and over 800 covered parking spots and nine electric charging stations. The early bird rate is $10 for the whole day before 9 a.m. and exit before 9 p.m. The evening flat rate, for vehicles that arrive after 5 p.m. and leave before 2 a.m., is $5. Or, the low hourly rate is $4 per hour up to the first four hours.

In addition to the additional seating, the Pike Place Market buskers have returned. While dining at the new picnic tables, enjoy the music that is considered an integral part of the Market’s atmosphere.

In May, the Seattle City Council voted unanimously to extend the Safe Start permits which allow restaurants, cafes and other businesses to continue outdoor dining options along sidewalks, streets and curb spaces without the usual permit fees that would have normally accompanied these efforts before the COVID pandemic.
