But a new year is on the horizon, and it's going to be full of better things, like delicious vegan cinnamon rolls. That's because Seattle's acclaimed vegetarian destination, Cafe Flora, will finally be opening their highly anticipated Beacon Hill bakery in January 2021.
Flora Bakehouse will serve as a production bakery for both Cafe Flora and Sea-Tac Airport's Floret and a whole sale operation for those who want to snag some delicious vegan and gluten-free pastries.
The opening of the stand-alone bakeshop has been delayed by the pandemic, but the owners are hopeful for a counter-service model starting in early 2021. When the weather warms up in the spring, expect outdoor seating and a light-filled rooftop garden.

Some delicious items on the menu include their vegan cinnamon rolls, croissants, caprese sandwiches, cookies, teacakes and chocolate mousse, as well as other seasonal offerings.
The cafe will also have a full menu of coffee drinks for those looking for a caffeine boost with their sweets.
And like Cafe Flora, the bakery will have an emphasis on using ingredients sourced from farmers in the Pacific Northwest.

The bakery will also be accepting orders for their deliciously light and airy vegan coconut cake — one of the more popular desserts at the beloved restaurant. But for now, the bakery is accepting preorders for vegan pumpkin pie, mocha pecan pie and other dessert options as part of Flora's 6-course Thanksgiving meal.
In a year that has seen nearly 70 restaurant and bar closures in the city, including Fremont's beloved gluten-free and vegan bakery Flying Apron, the news of this expansion is surely a silver lining.
