The apparent suspension comes after a transphobic tweet Monson sent during the Washington gubernatorial debate Wednesday night between Gov. Jay Inslee and Republican challenger Loren Culp.
In a since-deleted tweet, Monson mocked Inslee’s assertion during the debate that Washington is a science-following state, writing, “the state where I could go to Olympia tomorrow and change my birth (certificate) to say I was a girl on 10/2/61.” Monson finished the message with ‘HAHAHAHAHA.’”
Monson has been affiliated with the Seahawks gameday coverage since 2002. He hosts the team’s pregame and postgame shows.

Monson did not appear to record his weekly show with Seahawks coach Pete Carroll this week and was not on the air Friday. He hosts a daily show on KIRO Radio 97.3, which is part of Bonneville Seattle.
In a statement on Monson’s status provided to The Athletic, KIRO-FM said “We do not comment on personal matters.”
A Seahawks spokesperson did not immediately respond when reached for comment by Seattle P-I.
