132 movies where Seattle is the co-star, from 'Sleepless' to lesser known flicks

Seattle might not have the same Tinseltown glam as LA — nor would we want it — but a surprising number of blockbuster movies have been shot here in the Evergreen state, many at iconic Seattle locations.

There are the obvious ones — like "Sleepless in Seattle" — but there are plenty of lesser known flicks too. Newer releases such as "Captain Fantastic" and "Safety Not Guaranteed" were also shot here.

Seattlelites are likely familiar with 1989's "Say Anything..." – not only because it was shot here in the Emerald City, but because John Cusak seemingly magically teleports around the city from frame to frame.

Interestingly, you wouldn't be able to remake some Seattle-set films from past decades shot for shot thanks to the city's ever-changing skyline. Sylvester Stallone would have to find a new road to have a car chase under: he raced under the recently-departed Viaduct in 1995 action flick "Assassins."

Filmmakers didn't always cast Seattle as itself, either. "Prefontaine," starring Jared Leto, used the University of Puget Sound as a stand-in for the University of Oregon. Don't worry though, loyal Huskies: UW's campus was the backdrop for the profane antics of Miles Teller in 2013's "21 & Over."
