Elves abound at the 27th annual Sheraton Gingerbread Village

The intricate village is free to the public until Jan. 1

The 27th annual Sheraton Gingerbread Village is on display at the Sheraton Grand Seattle Hotel, until Jan. 1.

Donations from visitors raise money for the Northwest Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.

Sheraton culinary staff teamed up with local architecture firms to build the village. This year the theme is "Elves" and features five gingerbread creations including Elf and the Shoemaker, Cookie Elves, Elf on the Shelf, Santa's Workshop and Elf the Movie. Over the past 27 years, the Gingerbread Village has raised over $1 million to fight juvenile diabetes.

The event is free to the public and viewing hours are Sunday-Thursday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
