Here is your Fourth of July guide to lighting stuff on fire

Washington has its own laws for when fireworks can be legally sold and detonated, but then each county, city and town has its own restrictions, as well. How are you supposed to know what's what? We'll lay it out for you in King County.First, here's the baseline state law to which all jurisdictions must adhere. Each county or city can add on more restrictions.Now to July 3: Fireworks sales and discharge allowed from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.July 4: Sales from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., discharge from 9 a.m. to midnight.July 5: Sales from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., discharge from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

So we're breaking it down for you with a guide on where you can and can't fire off your explosives in the name of freedom in King County.

Washington has its own state laws that apply to every jurisdiction, but then counties and cities can set their own rules, as long as they're at least as restrictive as the state's rules.

And, even if you live in a fireworks-free zone, many of those cities with fireworks bans are hosting public shows where you can bring your family and picnic blanket.
