If you’ve ever struggled to get regular workouts amid a busy work schedule, you’ve likely entertained the idea of getting a desk that doubles as a piece of fitness equipment. But if you already have a desk you love, it may be more efficient to opt for an under-desk treadmill to meet your needs. As with most electronics, there are a ton of options out there, which can be overwhelming. Fortunately, we’ve narrowed down the best of them.

Read on to learn more about our picks for the six best under-desk treadmills.

What is an under-desk treadmill?

As you can probably imagine, an under-desk treadmill is basically just the deck and belt portion of a traditional treadmill, as it wouldn’t fit under a desk with the handles, dashboard, and screen most modern machines are equipped with. An under-desk treadmill isn’t designed for long, intense workouts, though – most options typically only go up to 4 miles per hour in speed and are intended for casual strolls or brisk walks. (Besides, running at your desk would not only make it difficult to actually do work at the same time but could also increase your risk of injury.)

Are under-desk treadmills loud?

Under-desk treadmills are known to be quieter than traditional ones. They’re designed for office environments and the impact of walking workouts isn’t likely to be as loud as the pounding of running, anyway.

It’s also foldable, making it even more of a space-saver when not in use, and has a remote control to allow you to easily change the speed.
