A message posted on the restaurant's website this week said due to its persistent battle with the pandemic it would be closing its doors. The restaurant's last day of service will be Dec. 11.

Because the family run Asian fusion restaurant and bar opened right before the pandemic began, it did not qualify for any government loans or support during the pandemic.

“Rent and other business expenses have been unexpectedly too much to handle, since we opened directly before the pandemic,” Fusion wrote on its website. “Unfortunately because of when we opened our door, our business did not meet the requirements to be approved for any government loans or support.”

Immediately after opening, Star Fusion & Bar was forced to transition to takeout and delivery options only due to pandemic restrictions and regulations. The restaurant was offering free delivery within a mile and also implemented curbside pickup.

Star Fusion & Bar’s menu features Asain-fusion dishes like chicken karaage, Tsuvian pan-fried noodles and unagi donburi. Sushi rolls and nigiri are also prominent on the menu, with several selections in each section.

Star Fusion & Bar is located at 538 Broadway East on Capitol Hill. It will remain open from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday through Dec. 11. Happy hour is every day from 4 to 6 p.m.

“We deeply appreciate your love and continued support during these difficult times,” Fusion wrote. “It has been our absolute pleasure serving this awesome community and the Capitol Hill neighborhood over the past 20 months.”
