You probably saw highlights from that new football league this weekend on your social media feed or Sportscenter; and noticed former college and pro-caliber players, including former Heisman winner Johnny Manziel, play in an interactive, 7v7 style of tackle football.

But did you know that there are Seattle Seahawks legends involved in the venture?

Marshawn Lynch and Richard Sherman are owners in the four-team Fan Controlled Football league, a professional indoor football league created in 2017 that debuted this past Saturday. Lynch is the team owner of the Beasts (with pro wrestler Miro and former WNBA player Renee Montgomery as co-owners), while Sherman is a co-owner of the Glacier Boyz. His fellow co-owner of the team is YouTube celebrity Deestroying, with multi-platinum rapper Quavo Huncho as the team owner.

As its namesake suggests, this new league is controlled by fans. Each week, they get to draft players from the league’s pool for their team on Wednesday. Then fans call the plays in real-time for the games on Saturday.

It’s 7v7 football on a 50-yard field with three-man lines and no kicking or special teams. The teams start at their own 10-yard line and need to drive 40 yards for a touchdown. Extra points are a 1v1 battle between a wide receiver and defensive back, with the quarterback given three seconds to throw the ball. A team gets one point for converting from the five-yard line and two from the 10.

Sherman’s Glacier Boyz fell 30-22 to the Wild Aces on Saturday, while Lynch’s Beasts took down the Zappers 48-44.

The Glacier Boyz and the Beasts will square off at 5 p.m. PT this Saturday.
