This shouldn't be too much of a shock. Seattle has been growing at a seemingly blistering pace, and the visible construction around the city reflects that narrative.

But, a closer look at the data revealed several cities that are growing faster than Seattle, even though we're adding more residents than them.

The U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday released July 2018 population estimates, and provided two tables in a report to track growth from 2017 to 2018. One provided raw numeric increases -- the total population added to a city -- and one showed a more nuanced ranking of which cities saw a higher percentage of growth. The data only showed cities with more than 50,000 residents.

Seattle ranked 94th out of 774 cities. The Emerald City's growth was estimated at 2.04% between July 2017 and July 2018. The highest Washington city was Redmond, which had a 4.04% increase.

Texas dominated the fastest growth table with six cities in the top 10. The highest ranked city overall was Buckeye, Arizona, which had a population increase of 7.82%.
