Video: Police knock fleeing driver into oncoming traffic

Multiple crashes occur during police chase

A fleeing driver broke away from police after repeated ramming by police only to be apprehended in Auburn.

KIRO/7’s helicopter crew caught the incident on camera. Video shows police corner the suspect vehicle in a Tukwila-area cul-de-sac only to have the truck break away. The driver was eventually subdued in Auburn after a police vehicle pushed the vehicle into oncoming traffic on state Route 167.

Details related to the cause of the initial police contact at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday were not immediately available. Tukwila police thanked other agencies for assisting in the arrest.

It was not immediately clear whether any other drivers were injured in the incident.

The video below, posted to Facebook by KIRO/7, shows the moment when police knocked the fleeing truck into oncoming traffic. That collision occurs about 18:40 into the video.

At 4:45 p.m., a Seattle Police Department spokesperson was on the way to the final collision site in the 5700 block of South 272nd Street, located east of Star Lake.
