Routes: New nonstop service to Belize City from Seattle, cyber week airfare promotions, more airline news

The time is right to plan your next vacation with what promises to be an exciting week of deals from airlines and hotels thanks to the return of leisure travel.

Keep an eye on email alerts from your favorite airlines on Thanksgiving, as typically the one-day flash deals disappear as quick as they arrive. Until then, there are already several appealing deals on offer for mileage purchases and redemptions, along with limited-time low fare deals.

This week’s airlines news also celebrates the debut of nonstop service between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Belize City, thanks to Alaska Airlines.

Alaska mileage bonus, Belize route begins

Now through Dec. 23, Alaska Airlines is offering a bonus on mileage purchases. Guests will receive up to a 50% bonus when purchasing miles for themselves or as a gift to someone else. A mileage boost like this can help reduce the cost of a future flight. Award travel on Alaska Airlines starts at 5,000 miles one-way, plus taxes and fees starting at $5.60.

Alaska has also officially begun new service to Belize City from Seattle (SEA) and from Los Angeles (LAX). Nonstop service between Seattle and Belize City operates twice weekly.

“We’re thrilled to now be inaugurating service from both Seattle and Los Angeles,” said Brett Catlin, vice president of network and alliances at Alaska Airlines. “Belize offers terrific family-friendly, eco-conscious possibilities – from iconic islands to lush jungles and ancient sites. And it’s closer than you might think: From L.A., it’s only a five-hour flight, and from Seattle it’s six hours.”

Delta season of adventure sale

Delta has announced limited-time savings now through Nov. 30 with a Season of Adventure Deals. The fare sale highlights Delta’s Premium Select cabin on flights to Europe, but travelers will find deals in all cabin classes within the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean.

Sample domestic fare deals include Seattle (SEA) to Reno-Tahoe (RNO) starting at 9,000 miles roundtrip, while deals between Seattle and Los Cabos, Mexico (SJD) start at 8,000 miles roundtrip, plus taxes and fees.

Hawaiian Airlines cyber week flash sale

Hawaiian Airlines has released numerous flight deals for cyber week, with the continued flexibility of no change fees on Main or Premium Cabins.

Sample fare deals include Seattle (SEA) to Honolulu (HNL) or Seattle to Maui (OGG) starting at $169 one-way for Main Cabin Basic or $199 for Main Cabin.

All guests traveling to the Hawaiian Islands must comply with the state’s Safe Travels requirements, which allows U.S. domestic travelers to participate in a vaccine exception program.

Southwest fares from $59

Book by Nov. 25 to take advantage of Southwest’s winter sale with one-way fares starting at $59. Applicable travel dates in the Continental U.S. include November 26 through March 9, 2022, along with travel to and from Hawaii applicable November 26 through December 15, 2021.

Sample one-way fares from Seattle (SEA) include $64 to San Francisco (SFO), $69 to Las Vegas (LAS) or $99 to Dallas Love Field (DAL).
