Between smart spin bikes and treadmills, it’s safe to say exercise technology is continuing to have its moment. Exercise mirrors are another category that has been booming over the last couple of years, with many fitness buffs being familiar with Lululemon Studio (formerly the Mirror) and Tonal, among other popular workout mirrors, even if they haven’t tried them yet.

Once you learn about all the options out there, we don’t blame you if you feel overwhelmed when it comes to making a decision on which exercise mirror to choose. Fortunately, we’ve broken down the best fitness mirrors for a variety of needs. Read on to learn more.

What is an exercise mirror?

An exercise mirror is a smart device designed to look like ordinary full-length mirrors when not in use. Once powered on, their hidden screens allow you to access a library of exercise classes (usually with a required subscription). Many of these mirrors may seem like quite the splurge at first glance, but once you outfit them with your preferred weights and accessories, you’ll likely find that in the long term, it’s much more convenient and affordable than maintaining an in-person gym membership.

Not only that, but they can be especially convenient for people with limited space, as the mirror can blend into the room you’ve installed it in and won’t stand out when you’re not working out with it.

Most popular overall: Lululemon Studio

Formerly known as The Mirror, this is the mirror that originally launched the workout mirror concept into stardom. Now owned by Lululemon and renamed to reflect that, the Lululemon Studio Mirror is still widely popular thanks to its extensive variety of classes with more than 10,000 options from popular group fitness brands including AARMY, Y7 Studio, DOGPOUND, and Pure Barre. Not only can Lululemon Studio members stream these classes from these partners on the Mirror, but they'll also receive discounts for in-person classes at the individual studios as well.

This workout mirror also allows users to design personalized weekly programs with selections from the activities it offers, as well as the option to hire a certified trainer for a private session for an extra fee. Its two-way audio and video technology allow you to seamlessly receive real-time feedback and motivation, as well as form corrections. And if you’re concerned about your privacy when using a device like this, the mirror’s camera also has a physical privacy cover you can use while you work out. Finally, most Lululemon Studio Mirror packages come with various accessories, such as a fitness band cap, heart-rate monitor, mat, yoga block, and up to two sets of weights.

Best for lifting heavy weights: Tempo Studio

The Tempo Studio is packaged in an A-frame silhouette, sitting on top of a cabinet that holds weights and other accessories. If weightlifting is your main priority, the Tempo Studio is the best exercise mirror option, as it comes with up to 45-pound weight plates. Not only that, it also uses 3D technology and artificial intelligence to provide real-time feedback when your form could use a little work.

While the Tempo studio is bigger than other workout mirrors and needs more space, many users find that the quality of its live and on-demand workouts (which include high-intensity interval training, cardio yoga, boxing, and more) and equipment (which includes dumbbells, kettlebells, a roller, mat, and heart-rate monitor) more than make up for that. Not only that, but you really can’t beat the fact that it keeps all of your fitness equipment in one space, which might not be the case with as many items paired with a smaller fitness mirror.

Best budget-friendly exercise mirrors

If you’ve got a limited budget and are tight on space, the Fiture Mini is the exercise mirror for you. Don’t let its small size fool you – this compact mirror option doesn’t skim when it comes to variety. Equipped with an AI sensor camera to provide form corrections and feedback, this mirror offers more than 700 on-demand classes with 20 to 40 new classes added each week, in categories including strength training, HIIT, boxing, cardio sculpt, barre (including through a partnership with Physique 57), Pilates, stretching and yoga.

As an added bonus for smaller spaces, the 40-pound Fiture Mini looks like a regular mirror when not in use, which allows it to blend into wherever you’ve set it up, which can be on a stand or mounted onto a wall.

The ProForm Vue is similar to other mirrors in that it includes storage for dumbbells and a barbell in the back, which come with your purchase. However, it can’t be mounted to the wall, which will make it look more like a piece of fitness equipment than an easily camouflaged full-length mirror. If you decide to keep it in a designated home gym or garage, that may ultimately not matter, though.

As with other ProForm machines, Vue users have access to classes via iFit with an active subscription. These include HIIT, Pilates, yoga, strength training, and more.

The Echelon Reflect is very similar in appearance to the Lululemon Studio. However, with its slim and sleek design, it also doesn’t include storage for weights and other accessories. It does allow you to view stats, such as calories burned and heart-rate data (if you pair a monitor with the machine), and has the ability to stream live and on-demand classes through an Echelon membership. This mirror can also be set up o a stand or mounted to the wall.

Best splurge exercise mirrors

Tonal is another exercise mirror that’s been having a moment as of late. Featuring a 24-inch interactive touch screen, with built-in weights and cables, the Tonal platform is a wall-mounted system equipped with both a screen and electromagnetic-based resistance equipment, in addition to foldable arms to assist with and emulate weightlifting as if you were lifting free weights from the ground. Using AI technology and smart handles, the machine interprets your abilities and makes adjustments to the resistance and difficulty level as you go through exercises.

With the Tonal membership, you’ll also have access to a variety of classes including strength training, cardio, HIIT, barre, yoga, meditation, and more. These include on-demand and live workouts with trainers, as well as customized on-demand personal training sessions.

NordicTrack has a long-held reputation for some of the highest-quality treadmills, spin bikes, and other exercise machines, so it’s no surprise that the company has also broken into the fitness mirror scene. Similar to the ProForm Vue, the Vault is built to look impressive in appearance.

As its name suggests, the Vault is a large chest that can hold the treasure trove of equipment offered by the Complete package, which includes six sets of dumbbells, two kettlebells, three resistance bands, three resistance loops, an exercise mat, and two yoga blocks. The mirror is connected to the front of the door and users can access iFit classes, just like on other NordicTrack equipment and the ProForm Vue.
